Options for Discreet Teeth Straightening

Types of Braces Scottsdale, AZ

Everyone should be able to benefit from a smile that brings them confidence, and those who require teeth straightening should have options available to them. Unfortunately, many avoid treatment because they believe that they will feel embarrassed during treatment. Fortunately, there are discreet treatment options available for adults and teenagers who want to straighten their smile discreetly.

Discreet teeth straightening solutions

Traditional metal braces are not the only treatment available to patients who want a straighter smile. There are now multiple options available to patients who are considering teeth straightening. The following are four effective ways to straighten your smile in a discreet manner.

Clear aligners

Clear aligners are perhaps the most popular discreet teeth straightening method. They are incredibly effective at fixing a range of alignment concerns, including crooked teeth, overcrowding and gaps between teeth. Treatment involves the patient wearing transparent trays over their teeth, which pull teeth into better alignment over time. Clear aligners offer other benefits as well, including the ability to remove them when necessary and a shorter length of treatment. However, clear aligners are most ideal for patients who have mild to moderate misalignment and are not always a viable solution for patients with severe cases.

Ceramic braces

Ceramic braces are the most similar to the traditional metal braces. Many prefer traditional metal braces because they are far more effective for severe misalignments and do not require the patient to have to remove and clean them all the time. Ceramic braces combine the best of both worlds, offering a more discreet teeth straightening method while still allowing for all of the benefits that metal braces can offer.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces are metal braces, but they are far from traditional. Lingual braces attach to the back of teeth, which makes them far more discreet. They offer many benefits, and they are highly effective at fixing a variety of teeth straightening concerns, including crooked, overcrowded and gapped teeth. However, the drawback to lingual braces is more for the dental professional than it is the patient. They can be far more difficult to attach because they are placed on hard-to-reach areas of teeth.

Dental veneers

Dental veneers are not generally considered a method of teeth straightening. While they do not pull teeth into a well-aligned position the same way braces or clear aligners do, they can work to improve the appearance of the alignment. Dental veneers are most effective at feeling in small gaps between teeth, along with making teeth appear longer, fixing stains, etc. They can also make crooked teeth appear straighter in many instances.
